Our Story
Where it started
Amani Gin (Pty) Ltd was founded on 16 March 2026, and the first three production bottles were made that same day. What began as a small run has grown into a brand stocked in liquor stores, cafés, guesthouses, and farmers markets across Gauteng — with nationwide shipping and a growing online presence.
Amani is the founder's answer to a simple question: what would an honest, proudly African gin taste like, built without shortcuts and without pretending to be something it's not?
What "Amani" means
Amani is Swahili for peace. It's a word chosen deliberately: gin, at its best, is shared — poured for friends, for reunions, for slow evenings that ask for nothing but good company. That's the feeling the name is meant to carry.
The brand's identity is African — plainly and proudly, not "Afrofuturist." The djembe, the terracotta sun, and the ring of twelve symbols on the label all point to the same thing: heritage, rhythm, and gathering.

Tasting Notes
The nose opens on butterscotch and a whisper of banana — warm, inviting and unexpected. It draws you in before you have taken a sip.
On the palate, that sweetness holds. The butterscotch settles cleanly on the tongue, the banana remains light and clear rather than forward, and beneath it all the botanicals assert themselves — juniper, citrus, the familiar backbone of a well-made gin. Nothing fights for attention. Everything belongs.
The finish is dry and unhurried. The flavours do not leave — they linger, quietly, the way a good pour should.
Nose
Butterscotch and light banana. Warm and sweet — an introduction that surprises without overwhelming.
Palate
Smooth butterscotch sweetness leads, with banana sitting lightly alongside it. The botanicals arrive with quiet confidence — adding depth, complexity, and the unmistakable character of a craft gin that knows exactly what it is.
